BEAUTIFICATION

WAWM participates in both City and County sponsored events as well as our own community events to keep our City shining.  Being surrounded by miles of waterways we have ongoing events to keep our waterways, parks, and boat ramps clean.  In addition, we have assisted those in need to keep their homes up to Code Standards by hosting painting projects for those in need.  We continuously look for where we can assist in keeping our neighborhood aesthetically appealing.

Historic NW 29th Street “Pineapple Gateway” - WAWM organized this project to uncover, restore, and refurbish the 1950’s entryway wall to the Jenada Villas subdivision.  Working with the City of Wilton Manors, the Wilton Manors Historical Society, as well as our membership we removed huge old plants and debris which covered the walls for many years.  We put a fresh coat of paint on the walls, and installed new landscaping and irrigation.  These wall are an important Wilton Manors historical artifact, and complement the NW 20th Street entrance to WAWM.

NW 20th Street —WAWM obtained the first Broward Beautiful Grand in Wilton Manors to re-landscape NW 20th St. entranceway as intersects Andrews Ave.  We worked closely with the City of Wilton Manors to reshape the median and place “speed tables” as part of a neighborhood traffic calming project, as well as working closely with the adjoining property owners on each side median.

 EVENTS

In addition to WAWM specific events we participate and support events sponsored by the City.  One such event is the Annual Island City Canoe Race to celebrate the City's birthday.  A team of ten participate in a relay race through the City which ends with a BBQ sponsored by the  Leisure Services Department.

Other events include our Annual Bowling Social and our Holiday Social.  We receive strong support from our business community for these events.  This year Kelly's Seafood Landing, Courtyard Café, and Flip Flops Dockside Eatery were a few.

The City's Leisure Services Department host a Winter Concert Series in Mickel Park.  Members host pre and post events at their homes to support this Series.

WAWM's 2017 Holiday Social was held with Santa at Vice President Jon O'Connor's home. Thanks to Zuckerello's and Sea and Olive for contributing to the event.
